It's been 24 days.........

~Well, It's been 24 days since my last cigarette. Thanksgiving day, I started feeling sick. It was awful. Well, a couple of days later, I realized that I hadn't had one since Thanksgiving. I thought to my self, this is it. NO MORE EVER AGAIN!
~My being sick really helped. I think it was meant to be, lol! I had the crap for a few weeks, even had laryngitis, I just got over that one. It was the first time that I have ever had it. I have had sore throats, and a croaky voice, but oh boy! That was fun.
~ANYHOW! Still No cigs. I have had my moments, but I make it thru. I keep a lot of gum handy. I may get a bit irritible, but, I guess thats all a part of it!
~My hubby and kids are being very supportive. DH , when home(which is hardly at all), smokes outside. No ashtrays are left in the house, no cigs are anywhere, and when I need a cig fix, I'm just SOL! I grab a piece of gum. Which by the way, I buy gum everytime I go into a store.

~Have any of you quit smoking? Do you have any good tips to share? I know I'm going to have some hard times..............I'm not looking forward to them!

~I am looking forward to a smoke-free life! Woo Hoo!

I quit 7 times before succeeding back in 1991. By then, I had identified that my problem wasn't addiction to nicotine, but the habit of always lighting up. Different people have different issues. Some tips. If you always smoked while drinking coffee, pop or beer, change to drinking something that always tasted terrible with cigarettes (orange juice?).

My way of quitting was to gradually limit where I smoked. Eventually, the only place I smoked was in 'my chair'. When I quit, I crocheted like mad and finished an large afghan in time for my sister's birthday 5 weeks later.
